Doula Services
A doula is a professional labor assistant, able to provide support to the birthing mother and her partner. The doula does not replace the birthing companion, instead she compliments their role. (However, if the labor companion is unavailable, the doula can offer solo support if necessary). My approach to childbirth is one of great respect and admiration. I am a mother of six children and a certified labor doula (CLD) through Childbirth International. I have experienced having a doula at my births and can't imagine going without one. It is a help like no other. Many studies have outlined the numerous benefits of utilizing doula services.

During your birth you can expect gentle encouragement for relaxation, light touch massage, aromatherapy, visualization, and lots of "mothering the mother."
I will provide:
- An initial meeting so we can get to know each other and your expectations (also included if you are currently enrolled in HypnoBirthing classes). We will discuss your goals for your birthing and how they can best be achieved. Plus, you'll receive a folder with valuable help on writing your birth preferences sheet, expectations about your birth, nutritional information, recommended reading list, affirmations and other information.
- A meeting at your home (around 37 weeks). This helps me become familiar with how to find your home and also allows us to discuss comfort measures, finalize your birth preferences sheet, and go over any questions or concerns you may have.
- Support throughout your birth whether at the hospital or home. You'll receive a sheet on "When to Call Me". Most moms start out with support at their home and then transfer to where they plan to give birth. I will join you at your home and make the trip to the hospital. I stay throughout your labor/birth and around two hours afterwards to help with anything you need. I can provide general breastfeeding assistance.
- Post-partum visit (if desired) at your home or hospital.
- I am available by email or phone throughout your pregnancy if you have questions, concerns, or simply a need to talk.
